Jordin Sparks sailed through tonight’s American Idol elimination. Along with Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones, Jordin Sparks was in this week’s top 3!
Jordin Sparks is well on her way to being this year’s American Idol!
This week the top 9 performers sang timeless American songs. Tony Bennett was their mentor for the week.
Tony Bennett said that “Jordin was terrific”, and that it was very intelligent how she improvised.
She sang “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever”, a Barbra Streisand song. Jordin knocked this song out of the park and it was an absolutely perfect vocal.
Here were the judges responses:
- Randy said “that was the bomb again”, “you’re like a pro and you’re 17″.
- Paula said “you really are this magnet of joy”, and “I’m just so fricking proud of you I don’t know what to say”.
- Simon said “I think you sang it very well”, but that it was “very old fashioned”.

Jordin Sparks is destined for this year’s American Idol finale!
The results are in and Jordin Sparks sailed through to the next round of American Idol. She was not in the bottom 3 performers, once again, and we are excited to see what Jordin will do next!
At this rate we think Jordin will sail through to at least the top 4, and probably the finals! Looking forward to when the top 9 perform!
Jordin sang “Hey Baby” and did a great job. I don’t think it was her best performance every but it was still strong and a good showing for her. Gwen Stefani was the featured artist this week. She said Jordin was “refreshing”.
This was much more of a pop song than the songs that Jordin has sang in the past - it sort of felt like Jordin was such a good singer that she was just much better than the actual song.
But Jordin’s song was great and a fun performance.
Here’s what the judges said:
- Randy said “you could literally sing anything”, and “that was brilliant.”
- Paula said “I love seeing you in this kind of mode.”
- Simon said “You are probably the most improved contestant in the last few weeks.”
Overall a great performance and we look forward to seeing Jordin around next week!
Jordin Sparks was not in the American Idol bottom three this week and has made her way into the American Idol top 10. She has done a fabulous job and we think she will be sticking around for many weeks to come!
Lulu said “I Who Have Nothing” is a “big” song, and we think that if anyone was going to take on that song, it was Jordin. She has got everything it takes and a depth and range that is just incredibly power. Lulu said it too - Jordin is amazong.
Once again, Jordin did a fabulous performance. “I Who Have Nothing” was a solid ballad which really allowed Jordin to show her power and a pretty good amount of range as well. We think Jordin shined far above everyone else (although a number of others really stepped it up as well).

- Randy said “that was a tall order for you”.. “i’m really impressed with you”.. “one of the, i think, best performances i think we’re gonna see tonight”.
- Paula said she was “a wonderful performer”.
- Simon says “you sang it beautifully” - though he said it was “a bit gloomy”.
The results are out, and Jordin Sparks is safe for this week! Jordin was not in the bottom 3 contestants and will be back next week with the top 11 American Idol contestants.

After seeing Jordin’s amazing performance last night, here were the judges comments:
- Randy said: “I am just so, so very impressed with you..”
- Paula said: “You are a breath of fresh air..”
- Simon said: “I thought it was a very, VERY good vocal.. and absolutely you have put yourself in with a shot of being in the finals of this competition..”
This week, the American Idol contestants trained with Diana Ross, who will be doing a special performance on American Idol tomorrow (Wednesday).
Diana Ross said, “I think Jordin is absolutely gorgeous”, and “To me, she has star quality.. she has an inner light.”
