WE KNEW IT!!

Jordin Sparks is the 2007 American Idol!

Vote For Jordin To Win

This week the Idol finalists had to pick three songs: (1) their favorite song, (2) a song they have not sung before, and (3) the song writer competition winner.

Jordin’s first song was “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera. Here’s what the judges had to say:

  • Randy said “this is a very interesting show tonight”, “the great entertainer vs greatest singer”, and that Jordin’s performance was stellar, brilliant, amazing.
  • Paula said “you were stellar”, and “awesome”.
  • Simon said “great you chose a younger song”, and “I am going to call round one to Blake.”

We thought it rocked!

Jordin sang a great second song as well. The judges said:

  • Randy said it was “better than the original”.
  • Paula said “you are a great vocal voice tonight”.
  • Simon said “now THAT was good”.

For her third song, Jordin also sang “This Is My Now” - the songwriting competition winner. Jordin knocked this song out of the park, and the judges all agreed that Jordin sang the song much better than Blake.

Jordin got an incredible standing ovation from everyone at the Kodak Theater. Here’s what the judges had to say:

  • Randy said “you were the best singer tonight”, and “you deserve it all, baby!”
  • Paula said “you have a lot to be proud of”.
  • Simon said “Last week, I didn’t think you were good enough to make it to the finals, and I want to publicly apologize.” He went on to say, “You just wiped the floor with Blake on that song.”

Jordin Makes The Finals

Jordin Sparks is in the American Idol finals! We knew it!

We’re sorry to see Melinda Doolittle go!

Tonight was the top three idols, and Jordin did a fabulous job. This week she sang three songs. One was chosen by a judge, and one selected by a producer. The final song was her favorite and chosen by Jordin.

The judge’s song was chosen by Simon. Simon picked “Wishing on a star” by Rolls Royce

Here were the judge’s response to Jordin’s first song:

  • Randy said “that was a very good vocal”, and “the run at the end was hot.”
  • Paula said “Simon picked a good song for you”, that it was a “great way to start the show”, amd that Jordin “did a beautiful job.”
  • Simon said she “sang it brilliantly”, that he wished “it wasn’t the jazz version”, but that it wasn’t one of her best performances (he did not like the arrangement)
  • The producers chose “She works hard for her money” by Donna Summer.

    Here were the judges responses:

    • Randy said “Very nicely done, it doesn’t really matter what song you do, you’re working it out. That was hot too.”
    • Paula said “You worked hard for the money tonight, you were fantastic.”
    • Simon said “actually a very good performance”, but that the arrangement was a little old fashioned.

Jordin’s final song was “I Who Have Nothing”.

    Here’s what the judges said:

    • Randy said “another great performance”.
    • Paula said “you sounded really great”, and “good choice”.
    • Simon said “a part of me hated the fact that a 17 year old was singing a 60 year old song” (we don’t think the song is THAT old!) and that it was “incredibly old fashioned”, and that he wished she had chosen another song.

Jordin’s second song of the night was Barbra Streisand’s “A Woman In Love”. I didn’t think it was possible for Jordin to outsing herself, but she did! Jordin’s performance gave me goosebumps. She is that good, and I think she is going all the way.

Barry Gibb said “Jordin is going there”, and “she is going to be one of our greatest female recording artists”.

Randy said it was pitchy, and Paula did not love the song either.

Simon said it was “old fashioned” and “very pagenty”.

The idols are down to four now, and turning up the heat. Jordin sang two songs today. Her first was “To Love Somebody”, and the Bee Gees said it was the best rendition they have heard.

Jordin blew away the competition! It was by far the best performance of the night. Jordin is such a fabulous performer, and she is only getting better as we count down to the finals of American Idol.

Here’s what the judges said:

  • Randy said “that’s probably the best vocal so far”, and “Jordin so far you are winning tonight”.
  • Paula said “it is the best vocal so far today”.
  • Simon said “best song choice, best performance so far, we’re back in the competition”.

This week, Jordin Sparks was once again in the top 3 of all American Idol contestants - the ones with the highest number of votes. But Sanjaya, Lakisha, and Blake were in group with the lowest number of votes.

This was the final week for Sanjaya Malakar. He is now out of the American Idol competition.

Jordin did an amazing job this week, and America agreed. She is destined for the finals!

This week the Idol finalists were mentored by Martina McBride. Jordin sang “Broken Wing” and her vocal was amazing - the best of the night in my opinion.

Jordin did an awesome job singing this week! I think it might have been her best performance yet - and definitely the best performance of the night!

Her performance was so good that Simon said “I think you can win American Idol.”

Jordin will definitely make the Idol top 6!

Jordin Sparks has made it into the American Idol top 7!

This week marked the end of the journey for Haley Scarnato. Haley, Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson were this week’s bottom three performers.

Jordin Sings Gloria Estefan

This week Jordin sang Gloria Estefan’s “The Rhythm is Gonna Get You”. The Idol finalists had the chance to work with Jennifer Lopez, and J-Lo had nothing but good things to say about Jordin.

J-Lo said “Jordin has such a sweet voice” and that Jordin reminded her of Michael Jackson. J-Lo said Jordin is doing it all with her voice, and that she doesn’t need to do anything else.

I think Jordin did a great job with the song. She used it to showcase her range and it was obvious that she had a great time singing it.

Here were the judges responses:

  • Randy said “you’ve got it”, and that it was absolutely wonderful.
  • Paula said “you’re adorable”.
  • Simon said “we all know, Jordin, that you’re a good singer”, but Simon seemed to be in kind of a bad mood overall during the night and was not terribly impressed with many performances.

Jordin’s going to sail through until next week - but who will go? We’ll keep you posted on tomorrow night’s elimination round..
